we about to set the roof on fire, baby

My puppy is limping, and I'm worried.  She isn't whimpering or anything, but it's still the fact that she won't walk on one of her front legs.  My dad says give it a day or two, and if she still is, we'll take her in to the vet, but I don't wanna wait.

My poor baby better be all right.

In other news, I'm seriously considering buying a movie theatre.  I've been talking about it with a couple of people, family and friends, and we've been waxing ideas, such as how to make it popular, themes, food, etc, etc.  It'll cost quite a bit of money, but...  it would be totally worth it after awhile.

BUT I NEED YOUR HELP, FLIST.  You all like movies, right?  And you all like movie theatres, right?  I kind of want to know your thoughts on themed rooms (eg: super mario kind of room, or black and white horror movie style, stuff like that), and food!  I don't know about anyone else, but I've always hated the same old same old movie theatre food.  I was thinking carnival type food, but there's so many different types that can be made...

... Wait, you want to actually buy a movie theatre building and start your own movie theatre inside it? That is... so awesome.

[identity profile] saturate.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep! I have for awhile, but I've just started discussing the idea with my family!

[identity profile] meowzy-chan.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
So how would that work? Can you buy the entire building with the money you have now, or would have to start a loan, or...?

[identity profile] saturate.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I have more than enough to cover the building (it's one that closed down a couple months ago, my favorite theatre) in my trust fund, but I will probably have to get a loan to really start it up (buying movies costs thousands of dollars per reel). But I'm just tossing the idea around, I haven't settled on it, yet.

[identity profile] meowzy-chan.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it would be amaaaazing to have your own movie theatre. If you think you can make it work, I'd say go for it. Just keep in mind that the old movie theatre closed down for a reason, so I'd look into that first.

[identity profile] saturate.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd love to do it, but there's just so much I want to do in life that I'm kind of flopping about stupidly trying to figure it out. And I know why the theatre closed down; AMC bought it out, and then shut it down so everyone would go to the other theatre in town. Which pissed me off. That was my theatre. I saw all three new Star Wars movies there, and all the Lord of the Rings there, and had my first date there, and...

AAAH. I have to buy it to preserve my beautiful memories! D:

[identity profile] meowzy-chan.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Then, don't you think AMC might cause problems for you too?

[identity profile] saturate.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
It's always a possibility. Since they're a big chain, they could probably find a way to run me out of business, but I'm hoping that if I keep things unique that it'd keep customers coming in even if AMC drops their ticket prices, or snack prices.

The themed rooms sound like a very good strategy, just so you know. I'd love a theatre like that.

[identity profile] saturate.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
It's what I always wanted in a good movie theatre, but it's kind of a bitch coming up with them. I'm seriously considering getting out the sketchpad and doing some up to see what they'd look like.

[identity profile] meowzy-chan.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
How about a James Bondish theme? Or something in a bit of a Burton style?

[identity profile] saturate.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh god, both sound so awesome! I def. love those! I wouldn't be too sure how to do a theme Burton style, though.

[identity profile] meowzy-chan.livejournal.com 2010-06-19 08:46 am (UTC)(link)
Well, you can't actually work any Burton characters into it because that would be copyright violation. And drawing 'bootleg' versions of those characters would be very lame. But how about trademark Burton environments? Have a look at The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Corpse Bride, Sweeney Todd, Alice in Wonderland, Frankenweener... See what sort of things from the environment you can work into the room. Like Burton's fetish for dreery dead trees, or Sweeney Todd's barber chair. Oogy Boogy's house.

[identity profile] saturate.livejournal.com 2010-06-19 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh! Good idea. I guess I'm going to binge watch some Burton movies and see what I can come up with!

[identity profile] saturate.livejournal.com 2010-06-19 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! <3

[identity profile] muse-lightning.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
This is a amazing idea. The world needs more entrepreneurs. If you chose to do it I hope it works out great :>

UM also. for themed rooms is a interesting - I'll see if I can think of anything after dinner because my mind is going 8 diffren twasy right now lmfao XD

[identity profile] saturate.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't help but agree!

And that'd be wonderful and helpful! I've made a huge list for this kind of thing, but I'd like some ideas from other peeps! C:

[identity profile] muse-lightning.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm ok like I didn't really think of much on theme, but maybe possibly (after you start making a profit on it, of course, because it's got to be expensive!) making your themes in a way that they are portable? Reusable wall skins instead of paint, maybe go costumes or something when you show movies idk XD

And you mentioned a horror themed room - maybe like a mini projector for the side wall that like randomly turns on and BAM GHOSTS/ZOMBIES/SOMETHING

[identity profile] saturate.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
YOU READ MY MIND! I was actually thinking about that because being able to move all the stuff and change which rooms would save a ton of money in the long run.

...And that's genius! Genius! Thanks so much! I love that!

[identity profile] saltprince.livejournal.com 2010-06-19 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
When I go to the movies, honestly, I go in, get popcorn and a drink, see the movie, and go out. I don't really every pay any attention to the other fluff or anything like that in the theater.

...Makes me wonder how many other people think like me.

[identity profile] saturate.livejournal.com 2010-06-19 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
You're a simple man, aren't you?

[identity profile] saltprince.livejournal.com 2010-06-19 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
I tend to say I am, yeah. That's how I've always been and such.

That said, I don't think owning a theater's a bad plan or anything, I just know I'm no help with a theme and if there's other people that much like me then it might not pull my type of character there.

[identity profile] saturate.livejournal.com 2010-06-19 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
I know that. Not everyone is going to go for the whacky themed theatre, which is why I'm thinking of ways to draw in different types of crowds. Such as, eat dinner at the restaurant there and get your tickets half-priced or something.

Maybe I'll do some surveys around town and see what THE PEOPLE think. They couldn't steer me wrong.
